Tamil star Vijay's Sarkar directed by Murugadoss landed in huge controversy when the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu accused the filmmakers of insulting the Government schemes and also former CM Puratchi Thalaivi Jayalalithaa.

It is known that antagonist Varalakshmi Sarathkumar's name is Komalavalli in the film. AIADMK ministers and leaders objected to it saying the makers wantonly insulted the former CM Jayalalithaa and also propagating against the government schemes showing the hero Vijay destroying free mixes, grinders, TVs, Laptops etc.

Cadre conducted huge protests stopping the film screening at various theatres across Tamil Nadu. Police even planned to arrest director Murugadoss only to be restrained by High Court.

Under these circumstances Deepa, niece of Jayalalithaa speaking to scribes said her aunt's name was not Komalavalli. She also added that sometime back Jayalalithaa came to her and told her that her real name was not Komalavalli and questioned why people were creating troubles over it.

She also added that Jayalalithaa told her that she never starred in any films with Komala Valli name. Deepa said her father knows Jayalalithaa very well and he used to call her as Ammu.
