Boman Irani: I'm not like Virus

The versatile actor Boman Irani brings life into the character he plays whether it is the Professor Asthana of Munnabhai MBBS or Virus of 3 Idiots,

I am very surprised about the youth connects with Virus. I think it is a sad, negative character. I don’t know whether they are reacting to the character or my performance,” shares Boman, who heartily met his fans, signed autographs, and got photos clicked with them at a recent event to Jaipur. Talking about why he loves to do so, while most stars get bothered by too much attention, he says, “I am not a star. I don’t consider myself one. None of the roles that I have played are larger-than-life. They are all regular people but then the roles should be interesting, ” he says while adding, “Only when the antagonist in the film is strong, that the protagonist shines. And for that it is important for an actor to interact with people. So, I like to be in touch with people and take cues from them, for my characters.”

But does he only pick up roles that suit him? “Not at all. In fact, none of my roles suit me. For instance, am I anything like Virus at all? Moreover if you enjoy your job, everything else comes as a bonus.” He adds that although his performances may seem effortless on-screen, he has to put in a lot of effort to do so.
