Gayatri Review, What’s Behind?:

Of late, Collection King Mohan Babu is seen on big screen once in a blue moon. His previous offing Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu was not a money spinner at the box office. After a gap of nearly three years, Mohan Babu comes on quite an aggressive note with two contrasting roles being sported by him in his new release Gayatri. Let's take a look at the analysis on story, performances, advantages and disadvantages of the film. 

Gayatri Story Review:

Dasari Sivaji (Mohan Babu) is a drama artist and philanthropist who also runs a hostel for orphan kids. Beyond the bounds, Sivaji has a great tragedy in his life. His wife dies after giving birth to a baby girl. With his dismay, the baby is also missed whom he is in search for 25 long years. Finally, there comes a moment when father is about to meet his daughter. Another twist is here in the form of criminal Gayatri Patel (Mohan Babu) who abducts Sivaji to get him replaced his position as the latter is sentenced to to be hanged for death. And rest of the story deals how Sivaji is proved acquitted and how the rendezvous happens between the daughter and the father. 

Gayatri Artists, Technicians Review:

Diamond Ratnababu penned a touching story that is included sentiment between the father and daughter. Also, the story has a scope for the protagonist to show variations in performance. Ratnababu's dialogues were also quite impressive at times. "Ramayanam oka aadadani edupu lonchi puttindhi...Bharatam oka aadadani navvu lonchi puttindhi" was a nice differentiation between two epics. Besides, there were a couple of verses and slokas embedded in the script. Sarvesh Murari's cinematography was unobjectionable while MR Varma's editing is sufficient. Thaman impresses with BGM, a devotional song on lord Hanuman and a romantic song between Manchu Vishnu and Shriya. Director Madan Ramigani, however, preferred snail pace for old styling narration. Else, the film could have been a better product. Lakshmi Prasanna banner's production values are good. Sri Vidya Nikethan Campus was cleverly used in one of the sequences.

Performances wise Mohan Babu was terrific in Gayatri Patel's character. Perfect villainy of his was seen after a huge gap. He recited some tough Sanskrit and Telugu mixed dialogues thus showcased his command in articulation. Shockingly, he turned deadly romantic in an item number shot among two hotties and Mohan Babu. Yet, none has regrets for his romantic angle in the song, instead there were whistles for the song. Manchu Vishnu was decent in his breviloquent character. In one of the scenes he mouths late NTR's popular dialogue 'Emantivi emantivi'. Shriya was exquisite and reminds us her role in Manam. Nikhila Vimal, as Mohan Babu's daughter, is apt for the role.

Gayatri Review Rating Analysis:

It's a made-to-measure role for Mohan Babu. With rumours being mushroomed that Mohan Babu would join active politics for next elections, he used this film as a platform to throw satires on TDP government. Mohan Babu talked about the land pooling, sand mafia, Nandyal by-polls and corruption in the government. Meanwhile, he was simply outstanding in Gayatri Patel's role. The first half flaunts only Sivaji's role and father and daughter confrontation. 

The screen play turns lumbering pace until the entry of Gayatri Patel. Thereupon, a couple of interesting twists take place which lead to the climax. And the climax has been a nice adoption of one of the old Chandamama stories. As there is a big fight between Sivaji and Gayatri Patel in the climax and both of them are seen in similar uniform, the daughter and the police turn ambiguous and get their minds nonplussed to recognize real father of daughter. 

Too many solo songs were shot on Mohan Babu which made audience get bored off. As the film runs on a serious note throughout, there was no much scope for humour. Comparatively, second half is better than the first half with a very good climax episode depicted by the team.

Altogether, Gayatri has been made based on a single thread which has the conflict between the father and the daughter. Though the treatment resembled the narrations of yesteryears' films, it could easily be a one time watch for Mohan Babu's admirers. The film mainly targets B and C centres audience. Consolidating ebb and flow, CJ goes with the rating 2.50 stars for the film.
