Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus on Rajput Princess Padmavati landed in numerous controversies. The film crossed many hurdles and underwent a name change from Padmavati to Padmavat and is heading for a grand release on Jan 25th across the world. 

Despite all this, Karni Sena and other groups are opposing the film release in the states like Himachal Pradesh, Rajastan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. But it is now coming out that Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe expressed his desire to watch the film.

Kalapi Nagada of Cinekorn Entertainment, which is distributing the film in Srilanka claimed that they have been about the Prime Minister's desire from the Censor Board and will arrange a special premiere.

Kalapi shared, “So much has been happening around Padmaavat that in a way has generated a lot of curiosity around it. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka has requested for a special show and I have informed Sanjay Leela Bhansali (director of the film) about this."

Padmavat stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor as Padmavati, Allauddin Khilji and Ratnavat respectively.
