Kamma, Kaapu, Raju - Tollywood

In the name of earth shattering Baahubali 2 success, maverick Ram Gopal Varma is spitting all the venom he has on Telugu film industry and star heroes here. Directly or indirectly, he concluded that Fan base for Tollywood star heroes comes only from caste equations in Telugu states but not the general adoration or love audience have towards them.

Underlining the new Fan base secured by Prabhas at National and International levels with Baahubali 2, RGV felt that remaining heroes have limited themselves to regional followers.

‘Since Prabhas did not care regional fans he got national and international fans. Stars that care regional fans will always remain regional. If Prabhas concentrated on Rajulu like others did on Kaapulu, Kammalu etc he would remain regional but he became international because he did not,’ RGV mentioned. Nevertheless, RGV comes from the same caste of Prabhas.

Well, there is a section in Tollywood which might agree with RGV inference but for sure conditions are changing and caste barriers in Telugu cinema are wiping off. There’s only one caste and it’s the working class, whoever works hard will gain more success and enjoy bigger Fan base.
