There are few gifted artists in South Indian cinema industry and their mere presence adds authentic value to given character. It’s the job of producer and director to spot on such rare talents. Yesterday released ‘Rayudu’ is a film which stood big on shoulders of senior and old Malayalam artist Kalappuli Leela but not on action hero Vishal.

‘Rayudu’ is a hero centric title and suits well for Vishal. However, the artist who stole the show in totality was Leela. She played the role of Vishal’s grandmother Annamma. Major portion of script pivots on grandma-grandson emotional bonding which director Muthaiah dealt very well. Set in hardcore Tamil nativity backdrop in Madhurai (said as Rayalaseema in Telugu version), audience are sure to identify Leela with our grandmother.

In few scenes, Vishal wasn’t visible when Leela was flowing fluently. This is the first Tamil film for her but acted in nearly 100 Malayalam movies till date. ‘Rayudu’ is one film which is worth watchable not for regular action and commercial template, its Kalappuli Leela made it something special.
