Behind the Movie Where is Vidya Balan: Director Srinivas Raga of ‘Katha’ fame is a critic’s loved personality. He traversed from thriller to comedy genre with this crime subject which also has lot many supporting artists. Let us see, how good is Vidya’s score in Tollywood?

In the Movie Where is Vidya Balan: Story starts on interesting note with a eunuch hit by a running van admitted into hospital. On the other side, pizza delivery boy Kakinada Kiran (Prince) falls in first look love with Dr Swathi (Jyothi Sethi), working under senior surgeon (Rao Ramesh). She also has a naughty Bava (Madhu Nandan) who comes as a hurdle in hero’s romance. Story takes a jerk with Minister (Jayaprakash Reddy) transplanted with a new heart starts behaving abnormally. Don Ghantasala (Sampoornesh Babu) is appointed by Minister to find the genesis of this new heart transplanted. How Kiran, Swathi get into the funny mess up with Ghantasala in finding clue of a Mobile Phone and how Rao Ramesh, Minister are attached with entire conspiracy taking the film towards a thrilling and comic climax is rest.

Values of the Movie Where is Vidya Balan: Story and the thought penned by Srinivas Raga is definitely innovative. We have seen plenty of crime comedies in recent times but ‘WIVB’ stands different with widely spread artist count entering into the story one by one. Definitely, there was a chance for Srinivas to down size the adult and disgusting comedy episodes thrown at regular intervals but he was still bang on spot establishing the thrill behind mobile or adding new comedians into the narration at equal intervals keeping the second half graph steady. Climax is again a well worked out output to put us in non-stop laughs. Screenplay wise, second half is more gripping than first half which also had a dead-slow take off. Kamran’s music is fine. Item song of Sunny Leone shot on Jennifer can be the best and BGM is also decent. Camera work of Chitti Babu is modest, may be in tune with budget of film. Madhu’s editing is crisp in second half while first half is more dragged. Production values of Sri Bramaramba Creations are middling.

On performances, Prince toned down his physique and looked fresh. When other supporting artists ran away with major show, he has very less to prove. Jyothi Sethi is made to look hot in a beach song. Madhu Nandan was loud. Sampoornesh as Don Ghantasala rang the comic bell consistently. Jaya Prakash Reddy accepting this hilarious role is a brave decision from an artist of his caliber and stature. Rao Ramesh packed a surprise punch. Sapthagiri added more of laughs in last portions. Ravi Prakash, Thagubothu Ramesh too did a fine job. Jabardast Team members were for name sake.

Out of the Movie Where is Vidya Balan: Thriller subjects need a proper handling and when comedy is added to it, the job becomes much tough. Srinivas Raga showed his intense liking for Thrillers (as in ‘Katha’) even this time by selecting a point around Organ Mafia and exploiting the idea by Doctors for business benefits. Of course, the narration more belonged to fun around a missing mobile phone. Utmost drawback for the film is a weak take off and a sloppy first half till the time actual story invades in.

All in all, ‘Where is Vidya Balan’ is a new attempt in Tollywood with reasonably fresh concept and neat direction. For lower class audience who do not ask for logics, this could be a fun ride with complete justification for ticket money. In B and C centers, Vidya Balan is sure to catch the pulse of audience. More promotions can better their chances of survival.

Cinejosh Verdict: Fun Filled Crime Thriller.
