South directors rarely get a right identity in North. Off late except the names of Rohit Shetty and Prabhu Deva, we haven’t heard any South talents really shining bright in Bollywood. When the intellectually strong director Krish got the call from Bhansali production house to direct ‘Tagore/Ramana’ in Hindi, he could not have put down the deal. Making necessary script changes to match the tastes of Hindi public, Krish directed Akshay Kumar as ‘Gabbar Is Back.’

The film has hit the screens yesterday all over world. For Bollywood lovers, the experience proved to be dismal because no where there was Krish mark felt. Of course, Sanjay Leela Bhansali production mark also went missing. Critics severely punished the film with very poor ratings blaming the director for such foolish stuff.

For all those who have seen either ‘Tagore’ or ‘Ramana,’ this ‘Gabbar Is Back’ can be called a poorly etched product. Neither there were stirring performances like Chiranjeevi and Prakash Raj nor there was any strong anti corruption message to hit direct on face. All in all, Krish got a beating in Bollywood. This is a poor debut for talented director. In fact, Shruti Hasan is also wasted in heroine role.
