With rumours doing rounds in Tollywood that film actor Prabhu Deva and actress Nayantara may tie the knot sometime in December, the choreographer-cum-director’s wife Ramalath on Monday approached the Chennai Family Court seeking it to direct her husband not to leave her.

Ramalath’s petition before the Court came after Prabhu Deva made his feelings for Nayantara public.

In her petition, Ramalath accused Prabhu Deva of shirking his domestic responsibilities and also of not paying money to run the household expenses.

According to sources, Prabhu Deva has not divorced Ramalath, nor have the couple been legally separated.

This could be the stumbling block for Prabhu Deva’s dreams of domestic bliss with Nayantara.

Prabhu Deva is believed to have offered Rs 3 crore and a residence at Anna Nagar in Chennai to Ramalath in return of her permission for him to go ahead with his plans of marriage to Nayantara, sources say.

Ramalath had recently told a television channel that she would never allow her husband to marry another woman.

“A husband is punished if he goes in for a second marriage when his first wife is alive. I feel the second wife should be arrested when she tries to snatch a man who is already married,” she reportedly told the channel.

Admitting that she did pick a fight with Nayantara once over phone, Ramlath warned that she will give Nayantara a sound thrashing if they meet.
