In the status of a Rajya Sabha Member, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is entitled to occupy a palatial bungalow in New Delhi.  Whenever Parliament Sessions go on, MPs reside here. On a different note, Sachin refused to accept this Govt. Quarters quoting the reason of wasting people’s money. ‘Giving me Rajya Sabha membership is itself a big honor. I don’t need any extra perks and privileges. As I stay for a very short period in New Delhi, I am not keen on staying in Govt. bungalow. This would be a waste of tax payers’ money. I wanted the same bungalow to be allotted to someone else.’

However, Sachin re-affirmed that disallowing the Govt. bungalow will not affect his performance of duties and responsibilities as an MP. He is hopeful of attending at least few days of Parliament sessions in every season. Let us see, how far he can devote the time.
